After months of applying to internships with no Dutch language skills, the Mediastages coordinator redirected me to the listing by Paramount, where I was lucky enough to receive the offer for the position of intern content coordinator within the Global Content Operations department. From day one, I was thrown into the world of content coordination, working across departments and getting a bird’s-eye view of how everything connects in a global media company. My job mainly focused on metadata management - a crucial part of how content is organized and distributed smoothly across different regions.

What really drew me to this internship was the chance to explore what goes on behind the scenes at a company as multifaceted as Paramount. I was curious about how departments work together, what kind of challenges they face daily, and how they solve them. And I got exactly that: a front-row seat to the logistics and coordination that keep a media corporation running.

Over time, I got a better sense of how the media and entertainment industry functions on a large scale. I also gained a lot of valuable skills - not just in communication, organization, and problem-solving, but also in how to work across different teams, manage tasks, and understand big-picture workflows.

One of the highlights for me was the office environment. The people I worked with were incredibly welcoming, open, and supportive. It was a diverse and international team, which made the experience even more enjoyable and educational. I felt included from the very beginning and was encouraged to ask questions and learn as much as possible. The friendly atmosphere made it easy to grow, even when things got busy.

Throughout the internship, I developed valuable skills in communication, organization, problem-solving, and cross-department coordination. I also gained a much deeper understanding of content workflows and how different regions manage media distribution. These are skills I’ll definitely take with me into my future career.

Overall, my internship at Paramount Benelux was a truly eye-opening experience. I walked away with more confidence, sharper skills, and a deeper understanding of the media industry. I'm immensely grateful for the opportunity, and can’t wait to take what I’ve learned into my next adventure.

Tips for Future Interns
● Ask questions! Be curious and show interest beyond your assigned tasks. It’ll help you learn so much more.
● Learn Excel. It is helpful in handling metadata and is a great stepping stone to working with more complex systems.
● Don’t be discouraged by repetitive tasks. They may not seem exciting at first, but they’re essential to how things run and will sharpen your focus and organization skills
